Intelligent Web Services for the Semantic Web: some Observations andConclusions

The Semantic Web effort has provided us with a globally accepted metadata and ontology standard. The next step in the evolution of the web seems to be to provide the infrastructure for intelligent web services. Several efforts,some from industry, academics, and independent groups are aiming to build an infrastructure for intelligent web services, coming from different perspectives and therefore generating different results. In this talk I investigate and compare the different assumptions behind various intelligent web services efforts and outline some possible paths for the future.
About the speaker:
Stefan Decker is a Senior Research Fellow and Cluster Leader for the Semantic Web Cluster at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute, NUI Galway. He holds a PhD from the University of Karlsruhe and has spent three years as a Postdoc and Research Associate at the Computer Science Department of Stanford University. He has published early and widely on the Semantic Web, P2P computing and related topics.
