There is a program that allows Windows compatibility, which is called Wine although not all Windows programs will work under this.
However chances are that you'll be able to find a similar program in the Ubuntu Repositories (where you install programs from). Though some specific programs, such as
Adobe Photoshop etc. will only run on Windows, and this is the sole reason that people stay with Windows, or keep their system in a Dual-Boot configuration.
