Similar Linux Programs
Many of you will be used to the programs you use on your PC, such as Internet Explorer, or iTunes etc.
However on Linux, these programs will not run (some may run in wine however), therefore
this page is intended to show some alternative programs. Windows programs come first followed by a "=" then the default Ubuntu alternative (i.e. using Gnome)
- Internet Explorer = Mozilla Firefox
- Office Word = OpenOffice Writer
- Office Powerpoint = OpenOffice Impress
- Office Excel = OpenOffice Calc
- Windows Media Player iTunes = Rythmbox
- iTunes = Amarok * only default in KDE, however highly recommended
- Photoshop CS* = GiMP * a powerful tool once you get used to it
- Games = try running under Wine, or check out cedega
