Frequently Asked Questions

We list some frequently asked questions and our answers here.  If you feel it does not cover what you want to know, then simply drop us an email with your questions.

Q:I have a lower classification than Upper Second degree, can I still apply ?
A: Yes, we will consider your other merits in addition to your classification.

Q: I am from Biology (Computing) only, and know nothing about Computing (Biology).  Can I cope with the study in this programme ?
A: Yes.  The programme is designed for people like you and we will help you to know the other side.  As a matter of fact, the top marks in our Computing (Biology) modules are usually from students with Biology (Computing) background.

Q:Is there possibility for me to carry on my research for PhD after MSc ?
A: Yes, we have a strong research group in this field, and there have been many students staying with us for PhD after completing their MSc.

Q:I have a background which is not exact Computing or Biology, can I apply ?
A: It depends on what background you have.  The answer is YES as long as your background is associated with one of the two subjects.  For example, a background in engineering is OK because of your reasonable training in maths and computing.

Q:Can I start my study in February  ?
A: Yes, but you need to know that it may take more than 12 months to complete your study.  Some modules may be difficult without attending the modules in semester one first.
