Key functions commonly used in an INGRES_TERM.

As all Ingres subsystems are 'Form' based, the following list will be applicable throughout the Ingres environment:-

Ingres works in 'Frames'; all Frames consist of a 'Form' (i.e. Display screen area) and a menu line.

Use Function keys as labelled for Menu choice OR type first few identifying characters of option required.

FURTHER KEYSTROKES WHEN WORKING IN ISQL

Although the details given above apply equally well to the ISQL interface, it is also worth noting the following:

Do not type long SQL statements - they will wrap-around and are difficult to read/amend etc.

Start a few lines down from the top of the screen to allow insertion of extra statements if necessary.

Several ways to edit statements:

1)Choose the Edit option from the Menu line; this invokes the INED screen editor; to exit from this use <ALT>&<D> which returns you to the ISQL screen; 2)Choose the Lineditor from the Menu line which allows you to stay within the ISQL facility;

3)In simple cases use the Cursor and Delete keys.

It is worth spending some time familiarising yourself with this environment.
